Cannery Casino To Host DockDogs Western Regional Championships

 

FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER THE CANNERY CASINO WILL HOST THE HIGH FLYING ACTION OF DOCKDOGS® IN THE WESTERN REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS MAY 31ST – JUNE 2ND, 2013

MEDINA, OH. – On May 31^st – June 2^nd, 2013 the Cannery Casino will be host to the high flying action of DockDogs®, the independent governing and sanctioning body for dock jumping and dock diving canine performance sports, in the Western Regional Championships. The exciting and crowd drawing action will be taking place in the Club / Festival Area of the Casino in North Las Vegas all three days so make sure to take advantage of this special event by experiencing the fastest growing sport for canines in North America.

Throughout the weekend, over 300 of the top teams located in the Western Region will be going head-to-head in 15+ divisions of competition that will feature Big Air®, Extreme Vertical® and Speed Retrieve® diciplines for both competitors and spectators to enjoy. The Big Air® competition features dogs running down a 40’ dock and diving into a pool of water after an object, in which they are electronically judged for the length of their jump. The Extreme Vertical® competition is a “High Jump” for the dogs as they each lunge to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air. With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king. Rounding out the action is the newest form of competition known as Speed Retrieve® – where the dogs are put on the clock to see how fast they can run down the dock, jump into the water, swim to the end of the pool and retrieve an object which is held by a modified extender arm.

The competitors on the west coast have been battling each other the entire first quarter of this new year and we expect nothing short of 3 long days filled with massive Big Air jumps, sonic Speed Retrieve runs and High Flying Extreme Vertical jumps.”

DockDogs is a great time for your family to get together for an exciting day together. The handlers and dogs love and feed off the excitement of the crowds. There is a “splash zone” around the edge of the pools for the kids to cool off from the summer heat from the enormous splashes from the Big Air jumping dogs!
